Hi keytapper,I have exactly the same problem as yourself, but the same battery as Makem so by the law of deduction if my battery is the same as Makem's but does not work the Stop/Start like Makem,s then there has to be another issue.

For the people without the same battery as makem, it could be the battery and the battery negative lead needs replacing, and for the people WITH the same battery as makem, it could just be the battery negative lead on it's own that needs replacing. This is not tested, only speculation.Throwing it out there as there was a recall for the negative lead as posted in another thread.

What is your date of manufacture and or date of registration? I am wondering if after mine, maybe a bad batch of whatever. Or a worker having a bad day. It would be of interest to see how closely the manfacture dates are for those with and without problems as it seems maybe not battery related. (unless negative lead etc mentioned)

I am in Berlin and my car is standing unused for a week. I did the same a few month ago and it started plus stop/start plus all heating/cooling so I expect the same. (hopefully)

Hi allD_Z I have had the negative lead replaced that contains the new battery monitor and there is no difference whatsoever. Even if I put the fan on only the Stop/Start will not work.

And For Makem, the car was built in October 2012 and was registered on the 25th Feb 2013. It was their showroom model that I assume had been there since there receipt and my purchase.

I have e-mailed Ford customer service and asked them for an update as to what they are doing ref the stop/start issue that appears to be affecting quite a few of us. To date no reply.

Off on holiday soon so will just have to do without the stop/start feature as I aintdoing
without aircon

I can't believe that Ford don't monitor this forum so

COME ON FORD, GET YOUR FINGER OUT AND SORT THIS PROBLEM

Not sure when mine was actually built and can't check atm. However I remember waiting for them to start building ones for the UK so mine would be one of the first UK issue. (Aug/Sept 12?). It was registered i Sept before it was in the UK due to a mod which had to be done to all. Think it was the module. I said the bonnet on mine must have been up for days while they waited for a replacement module because the engine was filthy with dust and rain marks. It was cleaned bfore I accepted delivery.

As posted earlier, I have the same battery as you Makem so I am just trying to be logical when saying that if mine does not perform like yours then there has to be another issue especially if you are saying that your Start/Stop works even after the car has been stood for a while which also means that it is total rubbish for the dealers or Ford to suggest that the problem is that there is not enough charge in the battery !!

Yes, I understand. I am just wondering if batteries are identical then maybe there was a bad 'batch' of batteries or run of cars thats why I suggested looking at dates.

My car stood for some 2 or three days unused before i left for Berlin. In the week prior to that I probably did no more than 10 miles. We both have bikes and do all local town stuff on those so in good weather, unless we visit someone or make a trip, the car remains unused, could be for a week or more.

I did a 25 mile run to the airport car park and there it will stay for 7 days. Same as previously so we will see if once again everything works from startup. I will deliberately turn everything on, even the headlights!

So, 35 miles in 2.5 weeks is not a lot of charge.

Ok, returned from Germany and collected my car which started first time. Left climate control on, wipers on auto and drove 4 mile in slow moving traffic. Stop/start did not work. Traveled 20 mile on dual carriageway @ 60mph, stopping in McD's. Again stop/start did not work. Drove 3 mile to Asda, stop/start didn't work. Left Asda and drove 1/2 mile, stop/start worked when I stopped at home.

So, after a week, it took a few miles for the stop/start to begin working again as normal. I didn't get a opportunity to have the headlights on and see if it worked. I will try that when next I use the car.

I am wondering with hindsight, if, when I left my car unused for a week and thought that stop/start worked immediately, whether I was wrong.

In fact as as I have said, I always have everything on and never think about stop/start working or not working. It may be that the same thing happened previously as happened this time but I didn't notice it.

Ok, 3 days have elapsed since I parked the car and it has been unused. Yesterday evening we popped out for a takeaway and the stop/start worked several times on a 2 mile journey.

Today I will use the car for another 2 mile trip and will see if once warmed up I can put the headlights on and still have stop/start with everything else on too.

Drove 1/2 mile to roundabout, stopped, engine stopped. Went round roundabout, stopped, engine stopped. Turned on sidelights and traveled about 1/4 mile, stopped, engine stopped Turned on dipped beams, traveled a few hundred yards and stopped, engine stopped.

I don't know if the software turned off the climate control when the headlights were on but I noticed no difference. It appears my stop/start works whatever the situation.

You can see that over the past two weeks I have traveled only a few miles and the car has stood for some 10 days unused but still everything works. So, other than actually turning it off stop/starts works in all circumstances, even in rain with headlights and climate control on.
